Author
After 25 years of being The Country Matchmaker, Patricia has been able to get down to writing books about her years – helping farmers who want a wife. The stories are intertwined with the every day life of her family, their farm workers and the local village community, on their dairy and livestock farm in the Peak District. A born matchmaker whose warmth, patience and humour have changed the lives of hundreds of people, here are Patricia Warren’s stories of the love and romance she has helped to create.
Book 1
“All in a Day’s Work” illustrated Pat’s gentle wit and wisdom and brought her a legion of fans. This book is now out of print.
Book 2
Tales from the Country Matchmaker recounts all the stories from “All in a Day’s Work” and many more. It describes the happiest, funniest and most poignant stories some with down-right eccentric tales of love in the countryside. Some with beautiful never forgotten romance, others with a down to earth outlook as you would ever dare to imagine. Suave and sophisticated courtships to the blunderings beyond belief. Tales from the Country Matchmaker is also Patricia Warren’s autobiography and an amusing picture of life on the farm and country life. This book was “Book of the Week” on Radio 4 in the summer of 2005.
Book 3
A Hard Day’s Work, continues the theme of the first; more tales of love and romance in a country setting but begins at midnight on the Millennium Eve and continues through two years of matchmaking where that elusive prize of true love is constantly sought. Combined with a story of her farming family with its ups an downs including the desperate times of foot and mouth resulting in monumental decisions. Patricia’s tales of rural love are a delight and proof that although the road can be rocky, it often leads to true love.
